TESTOSTERONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY
What is testosterone?
Testosterone is a naturally occurring hormone in your body. Both men and women have testosterone, however, men’s levels are generally much higher. It is responsible for or contributes to the growth of male sex organs, development of facial hair, muscle mass, strength, fat distribution, sex drive, sexual function, bone strength and mood/energy levels.
What are the symptoms of low testosterone?
From the age of 30 and up, men lose about one percent of their testosterone each year. Their levels continue to decrease throughout their lives. The symptoms of low testosterone can vary, depending on the age when it occurs. Some of the symptoms of low testosterone include:
• Decrease in amount of semen during ejaculation
• Decrease in sexual desire
• Fatigue or low energy
• Decrease in sexual function
• Erectile dysfunction
• Hair loss
• Decreased muscle mass
What is a “normal” testosterone level?
There is much debate as to what a “normal” testosterone level is, however, the National Institute of Health indicates that readings between 300 and 1,000 ng/dL (nanograms per deciliter) would be considered normal. These levels are not broken down by age, therefore, normal for an 80 year old man and a 30 year old man might vary. In addition, laboratories might use different measurements, causing a variance in what is considered a normal or average range. Typically, low testosterone is considered less than 300 nanograms per deciliter.
How is low testosterone measured?
Testosterone levels are measured with a blood test.Testosterone levels tend to be highest during the morning hours, therefore it is recommended that the blood test is done between 7:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. Because testosterone levels naturally fluctuate, some doctors request that two tests be done on separate days to get more accurate results.
What are the benefits of Testosterone Therapy?
If you have low testosterone levels (often called “low T”), restoring a man's testosterone levels to a normal range is often considered the Fountain Of Youth! Receiving supplemental testosterone can help increase muscle mass, reduce body fat and increase bone density. Some studies have shown testosterone therapy can also help with weight loss.
While erectile dysfunction (ED) can sometimes be caused by low T, there are many other reasons for ED. Testosterone therapy should help with ED if it has been caused by low T. If not, other medical conditions might be the cause of ED. Increasing your testosterone levels should increase sexual desire.
Low testosterone levels can also cause lack of energy and fatigue. It might be responsible for depression or mood swings. Increasing levels may improve mood, self-esteem and energy levels.
What are the risks of Testosterone Therapy?
Some studies have shown that testosterone therapy can increase the risk of heart problems, especially in those who already have a heart condition. One study showed a 20 percent increase in heart attacks in those who have a heart condition. Other studies have shown an increase in prostate cancer, however, other studies have not found the same results. Overall, the long-term risks of testosterone therapy have not been well studied.
Some of the other side effects of testosterone therapy include:
• Sleep apnea
• Enlarged breasts
• Decreased sperm production
How Does Testosterone Therapy Help?
Many studies provide evidence that testosterone is associated with overall male health. Satisfactory testosterone levels are associated with increased lean body mass, decreased visceral fat mass, decreased total cholesterol and better control of blood sugars.
My doctor told me that it’s dangerous to have high testosterone after the age of 40 because that could lead to prostate cancer. Is that true?
Let’s say for the sake of argument that having high testosterone leads to prostate cancer. Why aren’t men 18 - 25 years old getting prostate cancer? That’s when a man’s testosterone is generally highest. Could it be that there’s something else at play here? The answer is - there IS! It’s called ESTROGEN. As a man ages, the balance of testosterone to estrogen changes, resulting in a decrease in muscle mass, an increase in fat mass, man boobs, lack of sex drive, etc.
The goal with testosterone replacement therapy, or as we like to call it - Healthy Male Hormone Optimization, is to restore the CORRECT balance of testosterone to estrogen - and, not to exceed it so it’s unnatural or unsafe. That is where we believe the danger could lie!
Thankfully, there is a ratio that is considered to be safe and effective and that is what ANDROGENIX Health strives to do for all of its patients; restore them to a safe and effective level of both testosterone and estrogen so they can begin to feel YOUTHFUL and ENERGETIC again.
What is Sermorelin?
Sermorelin(GHRH) is a bio-identical hormone that has recently been genetically engineered to stimulate the secretion of Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone (GHRH) from the hypothalamus, a gland adjacent to the pituitary gland.
GHRH is a peptide that contains the first 29 amino acids of our own GH. These 29 amino acids are the active amino acids of GHRH. It is GHRH that stimulates the pituitary glands to release GH. As we get older, the hormones produced by the anterior pituitary are depleted. It has now been shown that GHRH can restore the GH-RNA to a youthful level causing elevation of levels of IGF-1.
How is Sermorelin given?
Sermorelin is injected into the body fat, subcutaneously, using a very small needle similar to what a diabetic uses to inject insulin. Injections are initially prescribed for every day and are decreased in frequency over time.
When is the ideal time to take Sermorelin?
The most suitable time to take Sermorelin is just before bedtime. Growth Hormone is primarily released during sleep and most beneficial to the body’s recovery and repair during this time. Sermorelin has a promoting effect on sleep and can therefore make you tired if taken during the day.
How will I know when it starts to work?
Patients usually report improved sleep within the first couple of weeks of therapy. Of course, this is only noticed in patients who have trouble sleeping in the first place, however most patients at least notice an increase in sleep quality. This is usually concurrent with increased energy levels and improved mood. After 3-6 months of therapy patients start reporting noticeable or significant body changes, such as increase in muscle tone and a leaner physique. Over time patients will also notice a significant improvement in skin tone and health.
How long does it take to work?
Sermorelin usually has a “loading” period of 3-6 months before full effects are noticed. Once injected, both Sermorelin and rHGH are eliminated from the body very quickly and therefore need to be injected frequently. Its actions are dependent on a chain reaction of biological processes which result in elevated and sustained HGH and growth factors. It takes some time for levels to become optimal and initiate the benefits we are seeking to achieve.
Do I need to take Sermorelin forever to keep seeing results?
The short answer is "no." Sermorelin has an ongoing effect in which optimal HGH levels can be sustained long after the last injection. Just like synthetic HGH, Sermorelin initially must be injected every day. Unlike synthetic HGH, once optimal levels are sustained with Sermorelin injection frequencies can be decreased or stopped altogether. Once results are achieved, patients are then switched to a maintenance protocol eliminating the need for ongoing daily injections and reducing the total cost of therapy!
Is taking Sermorelin dangerous?
Like most other types of hormone therapy, there is a concern for potential risks or dangers, but Sermorelin happens to be one of the safest forms of HGH therapy if not the safest, and there are few to minimal side effects associated with the treatment. Most patients who have participated in a Sermorelin treatment program have demonstrated minimal symptoms and side effects, and it is thought to be one of the least symptomatic forms of hormone treatment because it aims to increase the brain’s natural production of the hormone rather than injecting the hormone directly to increase it artificially.
Does Sermorelin come in pill form?
Any HGH product available in a pill or capsule that can be swallowed will not work because the body cannot absorb the hormone from the digestive tract, so these products should be avoided. Any legitimate medical provider will only sell Sermorelin in its injectable form, which is the only proven and safe form. Again, with the wide range of different products available on the market it can quickly become confusing as to which ones will work, but picking a treatment program from an approved medical provider like Androgenix Health is always a good idea.
What is MICC?
MICC is a special lipotropins fat burning combination of methionine, inositol, choline and B12. Each of these ingredients help the body turn fat into energy and are also powerful antioxidants.
What are the compounds in MICC?
• Methionine, which helps to break down sugars & carbohydrates and convert them into energy. Methionine is also a building block for protein synthesis
• Inositol, which can convert food to energy. It also has a calming effect and has been shown to reduce panic attacks
• Choline, for healthy nerve cells, cuts muscle recovery time and helps convert fat to energy
• Cyanocobalamin, also known as vitamin B12, increases energy and metabolism. B12 plays a key role in the normal function of the brain and nervous system.
What is B12?
Vitamin B12 is part of a larger vitamin B complex, but it is regularly singled out as an essential vitamin that is necessary for good health. For this reason, more and more people are choosing to supplement their diet with vitamin B12 shots.
Why is B12 important?
Many people don’t get enough B12 and that deficiency can cause some serious problems. Vitamin B12 does a lot of things for your body such as, it helps make your DNA and your red blood cells, it plays an important role for the proper functioning of the circulatory and nervous systems. Vitamin B12 also provides energy for the brain to function smoothly. Most importantly, vitamin B12 protects against cancers including colon, lung and prostate cancer.
Since vitamin B12 is associated with neural and cognitive functioning, some people take B12 to improve mood, energy, and concentration.
What is the best method for taking B12?
Vitamin B12 is available in several forms such as pills, skin patches, and injections. Of these methods, injections are more highly recommended as only injections provide absolute assurance that the vitamin will be directly absorbed and used by the body.
What causes vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can happen if you have certain conditions, such as:
• Atrophic gastritis, in which your stomach lining has thinned
• Pernicious anemia, which makes it hard for your body to absorb vitamin B12
• Surgery that removed part of your stomach or small intestine, including weight loss surgery
• Conditions affecting the small intestine, such as Crohn's disease, celiac disease, bacterial growth, or a parasite
• Heavy drinking
• Immune system disorders, such as Graves' disease lupus
• Long-term use of acid-reducing drugs. Stomach acids help break down animal proteins that have vitamin B12.
